good *free* non-restricted CD->mp3 ripper

I tried AudioCatalyst and this other one my friend suggested but they were either time limited or had crap for functions unless I registered. Anybody know one that works? All I need is basic functionality, (preferably changable bit rate.)

Get over to download.com and get a copy of &quot;CDex&quot;. Great piece of free software, easy to use and uses the LAME encoder, which ain't half bad.
