What's a good free anti-virus out at the moment? My computer caught something but I haven't been able to find out what it is.

Thanks!

There are several, Avast, Antivir, MSE, Bitdefender, Kaspersky's online scanner.

Are you sure it's a virus? Might want to try Superantispyware or MalwareBytes int the event it is some other type of Malware.

I'm really not sure what it is at this point but you're probably right it's more then likely a spyware issue. It's a brand new build, win 7, and the only thing I've really done with this computer is download realtek drivers and some files I emailed myself through hotmail. one files was a user.cfg files I use for MWO and it happaned after that so I'm a little purplexed.

Thanks for the response!

Avast and comodo internet security suite are by far the best.
For paid software zonealarm security is the best, nothing can escape it's detection and attack.

I personally use Avast for anti virus, and for malware i use Malwarebytes Antimalware and SuperAntiSpyware. All of them are free. I've used them for years.

I use Bitdefender free with an older version of Comodo firewall and have Hitman Pro do weekly scans.

I've been using AVG and Avast over the past years, but recently I've heard that avira is often raccommended nowadays. Is it really good compared to the others?

I ran Avira all the time and do still have it on one computer, but I just uninstalled in favor of Comodo Internet Security and I didn't like it so reinstalled Avira. It hijacked my browser and I actually had to go into safe mode to remove Avira. Now I'm using Avast and it seems to slow the loading of web pages down. It has always had an impact on Internet surfing so I shall be looking for something else.

I have a lot of hacks for games on my desktop so I can't use Bitdefender Free as it doesn't have a quarantine to restore and exclude the false positives it finds. It's very aggressive. I do use Bitdefender free on the laptop. If a virus is found Bitdefender will show a web page saying it was blocked.

I think AVG is going down the line.so all other free one.should do the job.but don't forget.free one are not the best.

Where I work we put Avira Pro on everything. But frequently we get PCs in here with Avira running and up to date FULL of viruses and malware.

So I clean them out with malwarebytes.

At home I use Avast. And do occasional scans with malwarebytes cuz its the only scanner I trust.

SuperAntiSpyware works good too if you get a license.
