Good forums for Digital SLR enthusiasts?

I'm looking to get a Canon Digital Rebel (unless someone could convince me otherwise for something around ~800 🙂). What forums are good like Anandtech for Digital SLRs?

you really should get a D70 instead because its a better camera in every way

the forums at Dpreview.com are your best bet
if you wake up and get a nikon instead i can give links for a bunch of nikon forums

you're biased anubis 😉

not entirely, even if i didnt own one i woudl still recgonize it as a better camera

canon makes great cameras but the Dreb IMO just isnt worth it, just save more money and get a 10D for like 1100$ used or a new D70

I was reading a review of the 10D vs the Digital Rebel and it seems that there isn't much of a difference to justify the extra cost of ~400. It also mentioned of a possibility for a hacked rebel firmware which incorporates some of the 10Ds features.

review right here

yes but the hack voids your warrenty, i know very few who have tried it, haveing a 800$ paper weight woudl suck

the 10D looks and feels better, has more features, a better body, better controlls, faster in everything

and when did anand start reviewing cameras, i definitly missed that

anyway you can decide on your own but read all you can first at Dpreview and imaging-resource

you paste this into every DRebel thread...WE all know what you're going to say, so maybe it is better left unsaid.

dpreview.com/forums

can't beat it

i've had my Digital Rebel for over 5 months now and i love it....best camera i've ever had

D70, indeed, has better specs, but those are like cacheless celerons. Don't get fooled by D70's amazing specs.

D70 has too many serious flaws that can't be fixed (beside no.2):
1. Left-red, Right-Green color flaw. (I just can't believe Nikon would make cameras with this kind of stupid flaw)
2. CCD not being horizontal.
3. Eleltronic shutter flaw (Because of this, you'd, sometimes, see this crazy green bar going vertical)
4. Matrix Flaw (Very strange Moire, sometimes, gets just insane that it shows weird electronic patterns)
One of the picture I've seen was a face of this guy and it had all these crazy square micro-chip like patterns. Thus, some says D70 is the TRUE camera as it decodes the matrix we live in.

Well, those are problems that every single D70 faces(Except 2) and Nikon can't even fix 'em(They did admit about those flaws). In my country, they did recall D70s but couldn't fix them, thus gave refunds.

Canon digital Rebel is just better and now you can even unlock those hidden functions by the "Russian guy's firmware." *Canon locked some of the Digital Rebel's functions to save their higher priced DSRLs.

I am currently saving with an eye toward purchasing a D70.

Can you provide some links with info concerning these problems? Nobody at the sites I've been reading seem to be having them.

As for a good forum, fredmiranda.com has an active site with forums split into subcategories for type photography and brand of gear used. I find their weekly assignments very interesting.

I have some pictures showing those flaws. Once I get the activation code from http://pics.bbzzdd.com, I'll upload 'em.
