Good (for the price) 30-60$ speakers?

I rarely use computer speakers and my current 14 year old 5.1 set seems to be dying. I don't want to invest a lot since I don't use them much. I'd like to get as good as I can for my price (understanding that there's nothing really "good" at that range), but speakers aren't really something I pay attention to normally so I have no idea what/where to buy. I'm looking to get either 2.1 or just straight two speakers (I worry a little about spreading noise in my apartment). These are for my computer, but I also sometimes sit ~9 feet away to watch things (my main screen is a 32" tv).

there's nothing too impressive in this price range :(, maybe just pick up some logitech z313s or something.

the m-audio av30s start a bit higher, sadly unless you're ok with used.

OP, I know it's out of your price range but you will thank me later for getting a pair of Audioengine A2 speakers for $200. You can get them cheaper at ebay. They are the portabe audiophile grade speakers that compete $500-700 speakers.

Don't buy cheap stuff as you will end up wasting money.

Best recommendation of the bunch.

If you have an old Stereo system that has an RCA Aux-In and can act as an amplifier, a pair of inexpensive monoprice speakers would blow away any kind of $50 computer speakers.

Or blow away other systems at much higher price points:

In this case he is probably more right than wrong. The A2s are very good speakers given the mix of price, size and performance. If anything is cheaper, they're either bigger or sound worse. I'm planning on getting the A2+ when they're released because my configuration limits the height of the speakers I can use and my onboard sound has a terrible DAC.

Obviously if there are no physical constraints, you can get bigger, cheaper, and good-sounding speakers.
