Good External Harddrive for a Mac?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a quality USB2/Firewire HD for an Apple G4/G5? Do Seagate and Maxtor external drives work with Apple? I'd like to avoid Western Digital if possible (personal vendetta), so are there other options? How is Lacie?

Thanks,
Brian

Lacie earned a very bad reputation for using low quality chipset and HD in their Ext. HD. All HDs work on Apple systems just like they do on PCs. For Apple, I would get an Ext. HD w/ Firewire connection. Seagate makes some good Ext. HDs.

Any external drive will work with mac IIRC. They are just USB or firewire.

I don't like WD either (personal vendetta here too)

Firewire is generally considered superior to USB(although typically a touch pricier) and since all recent macs support both, go firewire.
