Is there anything on the market that serves as a:

1) VMC extender
2) Hulu player
3) Netflix streamer

I only care about VMC extending as far as being able to navigate through and play back my recorded TV shows. Being able to interface w/ Hulu and Netflix would be perfect. I am trying to not build another HTPC.

So far I found a project to get Hulu on Vista Media Center: http://www.secondrun.tv. This project sounds like it works very well on the Vista machine directly, but doesn't have a working workaround for streaming Hulu to extenders. (There is no audio yet, and it sounded like the author said this was b/c there isn't enough bandwidth to send the data in its current form)

I also looked at the Netflix Roku, but there hasn't been any word on Hulu integration in 8 or 9 months.

Does anyone have a working solution?

XBox 360 + playOn = your solution

Has all the features that you're looking for and it can do some other stuff as well if you so choose.

Oh playon looked interesting. It totally slipped my mind- I think I was waiting for the Wii-compatible version so that I could get away with a ~$100 extender and the $40 playon license instead of a $300 360 and a $40 license. I was thinking that I'd splurge for a 360 if they gave it an internal blu-ray drive.

You can use an xbox 360 arcade for extending and netflix. There's a lot of misinformation out there- NXE does NOT require a hard drive.
