I was sad to see that the best price I could find for the HDTV I wanted was at Best Buy. This was based off a 10% coupon I downloaded online. It also included a free tv stand.

I went in expecting to deal with a huge hassle. I went to the tv I wanted and told the salesman that I wanted it. He did a short attempt at selling cables and service plan. I said no to both and got no lip back about saying no. I am used to saying "no" about 5 times before they understand it isn't happening. We walk to ring up the tv. He types in all the info and goes to work on the coupon. The coupon for some reason doesn't give the discount. He goes off to talk to a manager. The manager comes over and can't get it to work. I thought it was all going to be over at that point. Especially since I wasn't buying anything with the tv. Manager tells the salesman to manually discount the tv at the right price and left. I was like kickass. Not only did the salesman give me 10% off but he offered to give me 12% just because it took so long to get it all settled.

Yeah it was only an extra 2% but he had no reason to do so. He just did it to be nice.

Best Buy actually provided good customer service and didn't hassle me. First time in a long time that I was happy with my purchase at Best Buy.

Cliffs:
Went to buy a tv with a 10% off coupon
Said no to accessories/service plan without hassle
Coupon didn't work
Manager said to manually discount
Salesman gave me an extra 2% off just to be nice since I had to wait.

When we bought our Toshiba 51H84C in Feb., BB put it on sale for $1600, but my dad talked the guy into throwing in free delivery, but buying the 5yr warranty probably helped ;) He was in and out quickly, and we had the TV in a few days. Good experience overall.

Nice TV, how do you like the LCoS technology?

It will be delivered on Sunday. I can update the thread then. I am currently trying to figure out how to get a good deal on a Directv HD Tivo.

I think that says more about Charleston people, than BestBuy in general.

Trust me, I have walked out of that store unhappy before. I was just just shocked with the salesman and the manager telling him to bypass the coupon and do it manually.

Yeah I've had only like 2 good experiences at BestBuy. The most hassle was when I bought my iPod Mini from them and they tried to sell me a freaking extended warranty on it. First, my mom was with me and so they directed the questions/sales points at her, not the buyer, me. Second;y, they tried to push that God-awful extended warranty on us. That was a no-go. I knew better.

I've always like Best Buy, just not their prices on parts. ;) I'd buy anything but computer parts at Best Buy.

They don't NEED to sell PSP on that as badly.

Tv's have high markup, they made hundreds off of you even with your coupons.
