Since I'm looking at investing for a home hopefully within the next 5-10 years, I've sat down and looked at investing some money away to begin growing some equity.

I'll have about a decent amount to invest, my father had suggested putting in an equity-style mutual fund, some into a cd savings act, (about 3 months worth of paychecks via ING, Emigrant, HSBC, etc) and whatever else is needed in a checking acct.

Anyone have suggestions about what a good performing Equity fund would be? I was taking a look at Vanguard, I'm still a bit new to the investments market...Therefore I have a bit of research to do.

With a 5-10 year target, I'd go for an index fund like Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund (VTSMX). But the one drnickriviera linked to has a good record too.

Checking a bit, here are 3 that I'll look at starting with:

PRWCX (TRowe)
OAKBX (Oakmark, I've actually had it for a few years in my 401K plan, it's performed well)
DODFX (Dodge/Cox international/world stock)

Only thing I'm asking, which Broker/Financial service would work best for me-Simply buying all 3 at TRowe Price, or using another mutual fund supermarket?

If using the latter, which would be reliable and work best for me?

Thanks again

FDVLX, just to toss another one in there, kicking ass this year, up about 75% over 3-4 years since I bought it.

Avoid anything secotr based or speculative if you dont want to take any risks. Something Blue Chip based is relatively safe as well. Make sure you check up on load prices and maintanence fees, they can take a chunk out of your total as well.
