Good Earbud Headphones?

I have some cheapo Sony Earbuds I bought a long time ago for 10 bucks but they give out rather poor sound quality and they keep falling out when I jog with them on. I tested out some Sennheiser MX300 earbuds and they have superior quality over the Sony's in sound and weight but I want to know if there is something better than them. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on some earbuds, prefer to keep it under 30 dollars.

I got some Sony ones I think the model number were MDR-888 they were about £40 at the time I bought them (3years ago). They sound GREAT. Nice clean sound with good bass. Best in ear headphones I have heard. Better th en the iPod ones I had when I did have my iPod al so.

How about these?
Sony Fontopia® In-Ear Headphones
Brand/Model: SONY MDREX71LP

They look kinda cool. Circuit City has them as well as a few other retailers.

I don't think there is anything better than Sennheisers for under $30. There are definitely better models out there, but they are much more expensive.

MX300s are nice, but MX400/MX500 have better drivers. Plus the MX500 is a nice deep blue.

I was leaning towards the MX500's because I liked the MX300s but my friend keeps telling me to get These Sony headphones but I'm not too sure about the sound quality vs the price.

I think that's correct.

i'd set the budget at ~40-50😛 all the ones under 30 i've listened to sound about the same, that is to say.. pretty lousy. i don't see how people put up with bundled headphones. i guess they assume its supposed to sound like cr@p

Bundled headphones = free != < $30

yup free, and many people wouldn't dream of buying headphones and have no clue that they can sound better. its blissful ignorance i guess.

Those Sony ones sound like crap but they do provide better isolation. The bass on the Sony are way too boomy. The MX 500 would bea fine choice, some people have trouble getting it to fit though so becareful. The Sony 888 is also pretty good, it's about the same as the 500 but it costs a lot more.

Sony doesn't make a lot of good headphones: MDR-V6 , R10 , and CD3000 are probably the only good ones.

If you don't mind looking a little dorky the Sennheiser HD 497s are very good for the price, I use those when I go to the gym.

Almost everything you mentioned is > 3x his budget. 😀

Don't forget they make the MDR-D22 and MDR-D66SL

How long before we can get "elective surgery" to implant wireless audio devices in our head. Then they would never fall out while jogging. 🙂 Regardless that would go beyond your $30 budget.

If jogging and exercise is your highest priority, just find a happy medium between price and sound and make sure they are comfortable. They'll probably short out in under a year anyway and you'll have to replace them.

Koss ksc-30 are good. Got them for $30 a while back. They're not exactly earbuds, but the ones that fit over your ears. Search on hotdeals, and you will see the thread about them. I think they are very good headphones for the money. You should let them break in for about 15 hours; they sound even better.

the sonys mdr71 and e888 are comparable to mx500 earbuds... with some saying the sonys have weaker bass... if you want better earbuds than that you'll have to go for $$ ER canalphones

I had the Sony 888 ones. They were the best phones I've ever had. Finally broke down aftera bout 3years of abuse. And when I mean that I've stepped on them a few times 🙁 and a few other things. Sounded great to me. Wasn't willing to get other stuff for the £££ though.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/product/210294/SEMX500/REG/1634 MX500 for only $15! I think I will give them a try next time and see if I can get them in the uk.

I paid about £40 for my 888 about 3 years ago in England. These are a lot cheaper so I save some £££ and people seem to rate them 😀

Does anyone else have experience with the Sony MDR-EX71 models?
