does anyone know of any good dvd + - rw burners in the 4x range thats no more than $200? I was looking at the sony DRU-510A at new egg for $159. The only problem i have with it is the dvd-rom read speed is 12x i would rather have 16x as thats what my dvd-rom i have now is wich i will be replacing with this burner. Anyways I look forward to your input :)

if you do a search in general hardware for "dvd burner" you will find threads discussing the answer to your question.

and i quickly browsed through the more popular dvd burners newegg offered, and they only had 12x dvd-rom support max.

The sony DRU-510A is an excellent drive. Goes for 129 at J and R after rebates. Sony's new 8x is out now for 229.

Ooooh. Just went Diamond with this post! :)

cool :)

I have noticed a lot of rebates sales for these drives of late i wonder if the rebate is from sony itself.

I posted a great deal on a Sony 510A the other day for about 100 or so after MIR/coupons.
I replaced a Iomega/NEC drive with it and couldn't be happier.

I am now just debating eather to go ahead and buy the sony now or ask for it for an xmas gift :D
(If i ask for it as a gift i just hope they dont decide to cheapskate and not get me it :()
I have more then enough money right now to be able to purchase one but might do something else with my money.
