So after spending 4 hours trying to get a DVD made on Windows 7, I give up on finding a single program to do the job. I tried over 5 different programs, all either didn't work properly or didn't do what I want. Basically I just want to take any movie, whether it's DIVX, XVID, H264, or whatever codec. Then convert it into a DVD format with the VIDEO_TS folders so I can burn it. I have yet to find a single program that will do this. The close I got was converting a movie to MPEG2 using one program, then using some TrialWare program to convert it to the DVD VOB's and folders.

I don't care about fancy menus, in fact I don't care about menus at all. I just want something simple to create playable DVD's. Anyone have experience with any programs that work with Windows 7?

I found DVDstyler to be pretty good for making the DVD menu and whatnot. The best one I've found that's free

Just wanted to post my results.

And yes I did try Windows DVD Maker, it was the first thing I did try. It just spend 30 minutes converting a video, got to the burn stage and was just like "Failed to burn DVD." before even trying and would stop. Then it would want me to do re-encode again for another 30 minutes to even attempt to try to burn it again (no temp?). And of course it would fail everytime.

Convertx - Very easy to use, I liked how it was setup. Simple add, and convert, just what I need. Unfortunately the disk that it made could not even be read by my DVD player. Tried again and wasted another disk.

DVD Flick - Took twice as long to convert as the others, but actually DOES the job. Thanks for everyone's help. Who knew a free one would succeed where the paid ones failed? :D

I use convertx and have never had a problem. Awesome program with tons of options for title menus and stuff and it's simple to use.
