Good Doom III article at wired

Bump. Tis a good article. Plus the licensing figures are pretty interesting. I would have thought they made much more than 20% from licensing.

But id could pocket some cash from Microsoft. Redmond keeps calling, trying to convince the company to release a version of Doom III for the Xbox: "We're being offered a pretty significant amount of money to sit on it until an Xbox port is done," says Carmack. id hasn't announced a decision yet.
This would sooooo piss me off! :|

Wife gets Wired @ work and brings em home since no one reads it. Read that article last week. I wouldn't be suprised if they delay for the XBox launch. Mikey is probably offerin up a ton of dough.

What's really fuggin ubelievable in that wired issue is the articles about the matrix......behind the scenes technology wise special effects. There's some sort of wizmo they had the actors hooked up to that read their facial structure, that put out multiple gigabits/sec of data. The techno-talk about the engineering behind it was pretty damn awesome..........

Yea and we all know that money talks. What's even scarier than DOOM itself is that he didn't say no....

>x-box even run doom3?

they are most likely refering to XBox 2. In other words when XBox 2 ships it will include a ported version of DOOM3 and to have that go on sale let's say 1 week before the official PC release would be priceless.

Why is that scary? So what if it's on the xbox? Hell, if it looks par with the pc version, I may just get it for the xbox rather then upgrade the video card in my rig.

And it'd be an xbox title, xbox 2 hasn't even been announced yet. It was like two years from xbox being announced until you could buy it. Doom3 is supposed to come out this year.

Xbox has a GF3 level graphics card, and only runs in probably 640x480, maybe 800x600, and at most 30FPS! Doom3 will hardly be taxed just having to run it in that resolution, hell, it should be able to run it in 1024x768 too and still be OK!

/me hopes they don't delay it til it's done on Xbox

Confused
