This looks to be about $1000 shipped with tax - What am I missing here?? Is it easy to add memory for this and would the video card be decent enough for normal use (work and internet)

I also notice Dell offers different wireless solutions - Is the Intel version the best way to go??

Thanks for answering my questions - I need to sell my desktop ASAP as my wife got put on bedrest with our second for a month and need to get her something to use for work.....

Thanks again!!

To answer your question, the vid card is plenty fast. And it's pretty easy to upgrade the memory. I would get 512 MB if possible.

Where'd you find that coupon by the way?

What 15% coupon are you using? I'm interested in buying a Centrino laptop from Dell, and 15% is a good chunk of change. :)

Since the 600m only has two memory slots, try and order it with 1 stick, that way you have 1 slot free to pop in a 256/512mb stick later on.

You might want to consider ordering with a minimal RAM configuration and then upgrading it yourself later. Dell charges a lot of money for ordering a system with more RAM.

The main apps she needs are for her work -- AutoCad, Microsoft Office, Internet, and Outlook. Not really going to use it for a high end gaming machine but will watch videos, etc. I have read a little bit and it seems to be a decent notebook for the price....

Looking at the site again - The 8500 really looks attractive after all the discounts too......
