Ok this is the last time i'll bug ya'll about this i promise lol. I called the TDK people and the whatever-you-call'em that i talked to says that BUY.COM is COVERED under the participating retailers. I was kinda worried that they might not be, and i'd have to find somewhere else and try to PM or something...but i'm glad they are...wooohoooo veloCD for me :)....um, yeah i need to lay off the "peace-pipe"

The TDK coupon I downloaded (prior to 1-15 when I ordered) does not state: "at participating dealers"

This thread title should be edited to say "Back Ordered" until they come back into stock.

I have 3 of the actual rebates at home and it very clearly states that it must be purchased from a participating retailer.

To those concerned

I've contacted TDK several times, and buy.com IS a participating retailer.

The drive (no cdr's) I ordered on friday shipped yesterday and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. However, the bundle I ordered sunday still shows as sent to warehouse.

It looks like TDK may be giving out conflicting information. I e-mailed them yesterday asking if Buy.com is participating in the $50 12X Velo CD rebate that began 01/01/31. Here is the reply I got today:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Valued TDK Consumer:

Thank you for taking the time to correspond with us.
We are sorry but Buy.com is not a participating dealer.

Thank You
Customer Services Department
TDK Electronics Corporation.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of the posts in this tread say they called TDK and were assured that Buy.com is participating. I called Buy.com and the CSR didn't know whether they are or not. Now this is a fine state of confusion. I'm not sure what to do now. Buying the drive from Buy.com may or may not result in a rebate.

Well I'll admit I haven't called TDK recently on this issue, and my information came from the rebate ending 12/31/00. I suppose it is possible buy.com chose not to participate this time around. Sorry for the confusion.

nexialist,

Ahahahahaha!!! Thank you for your post!!! I just noticed that you are correct. There was a coupon that DID NOT state that you have to purchase from a "participating store". If you have sent this in you it will have to be honored. Thanks again.

cheuyungphat,

No problema,

I thought, oh well, the TDK burner is worth the money anyway, even without the rebate, (it is, especially with Nero) but then I read the fine print.

I'm in the money, hope everyone else is too.

I called up TDK and told them that I bought the drive at the gateway store a few weeks ago when the rebate didn't say squat about what store to buy it at and the lady said no problem and that the rebate would be honored.
