Staples has this for around $138. PM with buy.com for ~128. Use the $30 off $100. Add a little for tax and shipping. You get a really nice drive for a great price. Check out the main Anandtech page for link to a review of this drive. It's in a class by itself!

Don't forget the $30 Quantum rebate as well (you may have to wait for a while though :)). Link is here. It's a good drive, but according to storagereview.com, not as good as its predecessor the LM. Still pretty good if you can get $60 off.

UPDATE: Oops, ignorus is right, I forgot about that (I even read about this in another thread just this afternoon too). Scratch the $30 Quantum rebate. Thanks for noticing, ignorus.

keep in mind staples isn't an "authorized reseller" that is participating in the rebate -- so the $30 rebate will not work @ staples.

Or you could just buy it from buy.com, add an ink cartridge for $21-$32 or so for whatever printer you have - use the 30 off 150 and you get the hard drive for $100 after rebate and a VERY CHEAP or free ink cartridge.

EDIT 1/22 I like to buy Ink when these deals are about $30 away from the $150 simply because my kids use it like it is WATER. It gets me free ink to keep in stock at home. Find something you can USE and if it has a rebate, you are $$$$ ahead as well. Happy Shopping. :)

Or even better, find something for around $21 at Buy.com that also has a rebate. Then you will get the $30 off $150, plus two rebates!

If you need tax software, a good prospect is Turbo Tax plus Quicken 2001 Basic. This would cost you $50, but there is a $35 rebate for the combo. This means $128 30GB drive plus $50 Quicken combo = $178. Minus $30 Buy.com coupon = $148. Minus $35 Quicken/Turbo rebate = $113. Minus $30 Quantum rebate and your final cost would be $73. Add about $8 shipping and your final cost is around $81 for a fast 30GB drive, Turbo Tax and Quicken 2001 Basic.

In my opinion, the key to these buycom coupons is to buy something, or multiple items, that have additional rebates.

I have had excellent luck with Quicken rebates. Fast and reliable. Quantum rebates are slower than snot.

Turbo Tax/Quicken rebates are in the box. You probably won't find them on the web.

A couple of more suggestions to get over $150. Kingston Value RAM 64MB for $32.95 with a $10 rebate. TDK 50 pack CDR for $23.95 with a $10 rebate.

www.mave.com has the following drive for $137

IBM 30.0GB ULTRA-ATA/100 DTLA307030/PN#07N3929 7200RPM 8.5MS 2MB BUFFER (Bare drive/3 Yr Warranty)

just additional information.

This may be off subject, but I just bought a 7200 rpm drive and I am not sure it is any better than my old 5400 rpm one. It is a lot louder and produces a sick amount of heat. Anyone have heat problems putting two 7200 drives close together, as in next to each other in the 3.5 inch bays?
