Yes, that looks like a great laptop for the money.

About the PC 2700, i guess it could just be cheaper, PC 2700 seems to be in alot of the current laptops.

Gaming or not?

For Doom3 and other new games you might want 128 MB RAM on the video instead of 64, but since it's just a 9600 it would probably drop to low quality anyway. Still much better than a mobility 7000 or 9000 though.

For non-gaming, a Centrino / Pentium - M probably makes more sense for the better battery life.

I thought that the XPS from Dell had DDR 400 memory and im pretty sure it takes SoDimms
