Which dealership?

I bought a 2004 Kia Optima from an Enterprise dealership a month ago and I've been nothing but pleased with it.

You should be able to find a brand new one for just a bit more than that.
The local dealerships have adds all the time for Elantras for less than $11k.

Check your local newspapers. Every weekend here there is at least one dealership, if not all of them that have a NEW base Elantra (usualy with MT) for $10,200-10,800.

I bought a car that was a rental after my second year of college. I didn;t know it was at the time, but it lasted well. I think it was $3500 for a 95 Chevy Corsica (bought it in '99) with I'm guessing around 80k. It finally died in my brother's hands last month with over 150k on it. 6 years isn't bad for $3500, in my case it came out to $583 a year, or $49.60 a month :).

A little over a year ago I got an Accord with the same miles (though about 3x more dough) and I have a feeling this thing is going to last a lot more miles and a few more years than the Chevy did. Heck, I'm only 45k away from 150...

Sounds like your interest rate was in the 8.5%-8.9% range. Not the greatest but for a used car, not too bad.

You'll enjoy its gas miserliness. :)

Don't think in terms of monthly payment. What was the interest rate? (One of the car buying no-nos is telling the dealer how much you want your monthly payment to be.)

necine,

Sorry I can't reply to PM's (over my PM limit again).

It's called a loss leader ad, search for it.

I don't think the full Hyundai warranty is transferred to a second+ owner.

I know you don't want to buy the cars I rent ;)

J/K, the only bad thing I do to rental cars is see how fast they accelerate and how 'well' they corner.

Will do... Thanks Ross. I would love to pick up an 05 elantra for 11500. With a price like that I can get a reliable car, for 1000 down and like 200/mo. Seems like a great deal. Thanks.

So I have to wait until I see the ad in the paper and make sure they only charge me 11,500 for the vehicle?

Okay... Thanks for the advice... I'm currently saving for the down payment. I'm trying to get 3,000 so it's going to take a few months. I just like being prepared. Thanks!

That's a good idea.

$7,500 financed at 5% for 42 months (3.5 years) = $195.02 per month
