My grandparents are looking for a new crockpot since their old one began rusting inside. Obviously they don't ever want that happening again so they came to me looking for good recommendations and thus I refer the questions to you guys.

What are some good models of crockpots, and if not that, what are good features to look for? Their last crockpot was metal lined. All their previous ones were ceramic I believe. I dont think they want to do metal again but if the crockpot is superior and it wont rust then I don't see why they wouldn't.

their last one was only a year or two old. Thats why they didn't like it when it started rusting. Their last crockpot was 18 years old when it stopped working and they threw it away before I got a chance to work on it myself.

Crock pots have ceramic crocks which fit inside the the part that heats up. Most crock pots have unfinished metal that can easily rust. The answer is to maintain the heating element. Failing that, a crock pot will continue to function just fine if the element is rusty and will not affect the food cooked in it in any fashion. Throwing away a crock pot that got rusty is like buying new clothes because they got dirty. Oh wait, this is ATOT. Never mind.

yeah.

i figured he was talking about the outside. wich yeah i would complain about. but the inside? who ever sees the inside? it does not effect the cooking/taste.

Yes.. Yes I did Joe :p. And yes, their two year old crockpot was metal on the actual liner. The place where food was contained. And it ended up rusting. Now they are looking for a good replacement 3 qt. model for beans and stews and I'll probably direct them back towards Walmart.
