Good credit card for online shoppers?

I'm currently using a Citicard credit card. I really like them, but maybe once a month or so I'll get a call about a fraud flag on my account and purchases will get rejected. I buy a lot of stuff online because I am always building and fixing computers, so I order parts off Newegg, Apple.com, Amazon.com, and so on. Today's call was ridiculous - I had filled up at a gas station, bought groceries, and renewed my wife's Dot Mac account online. They rejected the online purchase from Apple. It's not like I even bought a lot of stuff - three things and only one purchase was online. Any suggestions?

Hm... I never have fraud checks with my Citi card and it sometimes makes purchases in different states on the same day.

I used to use my debit for online stuff until I got my Blue for Students. Never had a single charge flagged, which is scary. Just recently I took a crazy 4 day road trip to San Fran from Missoula, MT and made purchases in 5 different states (MT, ID, WA, OR, CA). The lack of security there is a bit unnerving.

It might be the gas charge that flagged it. When people get a stolen cc they often make a purchase at a gas station because it's self service and they can find out if the card has been canceled without dealing with a cashier. Then it's off to the races.

I routinely go back to Canada 1-2 times a year and my B of A card has been flagged a couple of times during those trips. Every flag was caused by a purchase at a gas station.

An out of the country gas purchase is an even stronger sign of fraud, plus you if turn around and buy a bunch of gifts or other large purchases it's more likely to set off alarms. This is why they often recommend you call prior to traveling out of the country to let them know you will be using the card.

If anything that should make you happy. You should be able to depend on your credit card, & fraud doesn't cost you anything.

I've driven across the country 3 times now and I've never had a purchase rejected. If any company DID reject something I'd have ditched them in an instant. I have no use for a card that I cannot rely on.

i was amazed at my amex card...only been flagged twice...first time was when i was in college and only put maybe max $100 on it for about 2 years...go to buy a laptop from dell and it flagged the purchase. Second time a year or so ago wallet was stolen and purchases were made at stores in the mall i never shopped at. For whatever reason amex flagged those purchases and locked out my card before i even had to call.

I'm cancelling my chase account this month. I don't like their customer service or the way they bounced my APR through the roof over the last 6 months.

Same for Bank of America.

I've had this problem with both of my Visa cards. Amex seems to be the best in everything. I just wish it was accepted everywhere.
