Good CPU?

Hello Everyone... I got my new cpu from Newegg, and was wondering if it was any good? I have heard so much about chip markings, but haven't been in the o/c game for quite some time. I currently have a Thermalright SK6+ with a 30cfm fan on it... I would appreciate any suggestions on how I can best O/C this chip. Here are the components I have: MSI K7N2 Delta - L Mobo, SK6+ with 30cfm fan, Tbred 1800+ "b" (see below), 512MB (2x256 Mushkin Cas2-2-2), Enermax 465p-ve power supply, WD 120gb special edition hard drive, Gf4MX440 video card.

The chip markings for my 1800+ tbred "b" are as follows:
"AXDA1800DLT3C 9875006281799"
"JIUHB 0304MPMW" 1999 AMD

Any suggestions... anything I need to upgrade to get the max overclock? I was thinking a Thermalright SLK-800 might be in order....

maybe a new mobo
i don think that one oc's too well...but i could be wrong...maybe check out some reviews, see ho far they were able to push it

but probably the fan needs to be upgrade...the ehatsink is still not bad
maybe get an 80mm and rotate it 45degrees to stick it on

I believe that's a good one... I think someone else was hitting 2.3 Ghz with it.

You didn't mention what speed your RAM is... if you plan on trying for 2.3, you'll need some good PC3200 RAM.

That motherboard has got to go too... you'll want an nForce2 chipset for the best results... I'd say go with the Epox 8RDA+ since it's under $100 and a very good performer.

*EDIT* Your video card is on the low end too... all MX cards are value cards. If you play many games, the lowest I'd go is a Ti4200... the Ti4400's are becoming more available now and you can overclock them to hit 4600 speeds. Don't get a GeForce FX card yet... they're still using old crappy cores... once they get the NV40 goin, the FX cards might be worth their high price tags.

it is an nfroce2 chipset, but im not sure as to how that board handles high overclocks
other than that, yah, maybe scrap the vidcard unless you are ok iwth it

Guess I read it wrong... still... MSI isn't known to be overclocker friendly.

exctly why i posted it
but i hvnt followed them, so maybe they pulled it off
but i still have that doubt in my mind

I went with the MSI board, because as you can tell from my username I have been a very long time user. It isn't as important to me to get every single possible MHZ out of the cpu is to have something very stable... on the memory question, the memory I have is rated PC3200 at 6-2-2-2, so it should work fine... The GF4MX440 is mainly because I don't play very many games... but as I get into that more, I will be going with something stronger...

thanks for the suggestions... the most important aspect, was I was wondering which chips tend to have the higest OC...
