At what temperature level would be considered a safe zone for CPU temperature ? The reason I ask this is because I am from a hot climate country and whenever I play intense 3D games or when I have a heavy load on my PC (running multiple graphic application), my CPU temperature would easily hit 60-63*C/140-145*F and my system temperature would be around 39*C/102*F. Is this healthy? I?ve got 2 chassis fan (front and back) and 1 PCI slot fan running together with my CPU and 3D card fan. I am running on a 1.4 Athlon 266 and Geforce 2 GTS Pro DDR.

I would like to set my temperature warning level on my Epox 8KHA mobo as well.

One more thing I would like to know how to do is to set my Rig link at the end of all my posts.

Please drop a line or two? thanks.

Regards.....

Hmm.. typically, i've seen 8kha+ CPU temp measurements run 15-18C over system temp for T-bird chips... What kind of CPU cooling od you have?

First off go here to register your rigs details. When you have finished entering the information about your PC, you will be provided with a URL link which you can copy and later paste into your signature.

<P class=MsoNormal>This is the third time I am typing this reply. Darn. Didn?t know what happened but after I type a lengthy reply and press the submit reply button, everything is gone and I?ve got to retype everything. Oh well?. Enuff bitchin?? x?cuse me, so frustrated !!!
<P class=MsoNormal>Mikewarrior2 : That is very low temp compared to mine. How come? I am using Cooler Master that says 5400 on the box I think. Can I rectify this from within my PC ? My Epox is the 1st version without the ?+?, 8KHA.
<P class=MsoNormal>Mitzi : Thanks for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>ur</st1:place></st1:City> reply but I?ve got my information filled up at my Rigs already, just didn?t know how to make the link. You mention paste the url into my signature but how do you name it to [My PC]? If I just copy and paste won?t a url appear in my signature?
<P class=MsoNormal>Still I would like to know a good CPU and system temperature to run a PC. What is the usual temperature for you guys with your PC? I would like to set my temperature warning in the BIOS.

Cheers.

Why would you be using MS Word to type your posts in the first place? Spell Check? lol....Anyway..........

I'd say the average case temp is about 28-30C (mine is allways 26-27C) and the average AMD temp is in the neighborhood of 35-40C Idle, 45-50C load.

Anything in the 60C range is too hot for the CPU in my opinion. And 39C is absolutely BLAZZIN hot for a case temp! Unless you live in the desert with no A/C in the house, those temps are too high. What's the temp in the room where the pc is? I'd say case temp (mobo) should be no more than 15F above room temp.
Average room temp 70F(21C)+15F=85F or 30C

well, is the system stable? If so, i'm not sure there's a whole lot you can do besides adding blowholes and a new HSF as far as dropping your temps?

now, if it isn't stable, the first thing I'd try is to drop the system temp... then I'd try another heatsink.

Nate420 :
I guess it's just my way of saving some connectivity airtime, I guess, load up the forum, type my reply in a word processor then reconnect, copy and paste. hehe. Also saves me some frustration on losing my contents whenever I got disconnected, which happens a lot. Yahh... and Spell Check as well.. hehe !!
Enuff already, but based on your statistics, I'd say I have a hot hot hot working PC. The air that blows out from the rear of the case is warm enough to boil an egg !! Just kiddin but still the air is somewhat warmer than average. Nope wrong guess again, I am not from the sahara. I do have A/C (thank GOD) but I can't on it 24/7. My utility bill would be insane dude... I guess I'll have to pop up with a temperature device to measure my 'oven-ic' room, hehe. Nehh...
Mikewarrior2 :
The system is stable but still the feelin is like having a needle at the end of my butt. Keke. I don't feel easy about it but I've already added 2 fans and still no improvement. It is irritating my alarm goes off every now and then my pc is at full load. I set it to 63*c at the moment. Another heatsink? If I were to change the CPU heatsink (Cooler MAster) to the ORB thingy, would there be evident difference? Because I notice the price is. Hehe....

Glad that you guys drop by a line or some to help me to confirm my curiousity about my PC being on the hot side. Still have to fix the problem since it's been rectified. What's up ?????
Thanks again, SURFS UP !!!!</FONT>

as long as it's stable 60-65 should be fine. If it really does burn (i highly doubt it) then you have a excuse to upgrade! I mean Athlons are cheap as hell. Athlons are suppose to be able to run up to 90C.

One thing I noticed in my BIOS is that the max limit to set for the CPU to withstand before shutdown is 70*C.
Does it mean anything? I mean since the max threshhold is 70*C in the BIOS, would it be dangerous to keep on running my
PC eventhough I never did let my CPU temp to go above 65*C. Just have to shut down if it reaches that high.

Hmmm...... a penny for any good suggestions.. keke..... ;)

Just copy and paste this into your signature [L+My Rig]http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.html?id=11650[/L] then just delete the url you already have there. Also replace the + sign with a = sign. I've done this so it wont appear as a hyperlink.
