I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Cases/Cooling section or this one. I decided here. I am in the process of building a new system using a 1 Ghz Tbird as a processor. The processor is a retail version. What would be a good cooling set up for this processor. My case will be running two 80mm intake to two 80mm exhaust fans. Any advice would be helpful.

How high are you going to overclock???? I use alphas pal6035 and do do some nice OCs I think that will keep you cool to 1200 but dont get the weak 23cfm fan get at least the 27cfm

The Alphas are good, so are the FOP 32/38. A cost-effective solution is the SuperOrb, which costs about half the price of the Alpha 6035 and cools just as well (check out a SuperOrb review here). The absolute best is perhaps the Hedgehog, but it costs about $50.

My advice: Go with either the Alpha or the FOP 38.

Are you guys also using a copper spacer to help stabilize the heatsink and conduct heat? Where is a good place to buy both of these components. I need to order them soon they are here when the rest of my components arrive. By the way, thank you for your recommendations.

Thanks for all your help. I decided on a Globalwin FOP 38. I will be using Artic Silver thermal grease and a copper shim for the Solot A processors. Thanks again.
