Good Coolers for Socket939?

just be sure to check zalmans site for mobo compatability. those things are big and don't fit all mobos and mcases for that matter.
 
Another vote for the xp-90.
Under $30 and awesome cooling. I paired it with a thermaltake silent cat 90mm fan.

Mine is quiet. Zalman's entire "thing" is quiet computing, so you shouldn't be disappointed. It does come with a small controller so you can adjust the fan speed to your liking.
 
If your not the overclocking teh retail cooler works perfectly. Its dead quiet also. If your overclocking anything from THermalright will fit the bill. Just add an adjustable 80-90mm fan and your set.

umm... idk about the Winchester HSFs, but the HSF that came with my 3400+ Newcastle a couple weeks ago is far from quiet, and doesn't cool too well due to the fact that it has NO COPPER in it (solid aluminum)
 
to be honest, i've been pretty impressed with the stock cooling on my 3000+. It's decently quiet, and with it i've been able to OC to 2.55GHz, or 41% above stock. If you got the retail kit (usually only a couple of bucks more than an OEM) then i'd try it out, and if you don't like it, then go buy an aftermarket fan.

If you wanna go aftermarket, i second the Zalman suggestions, i imagine a 7000-AlCu will fit. I've bought several Zalman products and have been extremely satisfied with the quietness and the performance. The AlCu is less than 1 degree warmer, btw, so I'd save $5 and go with it rather than the all-Cu model, esp. considering the weight difference. And the Thermalright XP-90 and XP-120 are nice, too, from what i've heard.

you know the xp90 is solid aluminum as well
 
I've heard good things about the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64. It is a bit more than your budget at $43 shipped at the Egg, but it is supposed to be a nice silent cooling solution. It's a bit fugly, but if you don't have a window on your case it isn't a biggie. The Freezer 64 is OOS at the Egg right now, unfortunately.

I'm planning to try out its Freezer 7 sibling to replace the stock cooling on my wife's Prescott system when it gets hotter this summer, since it is one of the few good LGA 775 coolers that doesn't require me to remove the mobo to mount the cooler. If you've already got your system together, that is another big advantge of the Freezer line. On an A64 board, the Zalman requires you to take off the plastic retention bracket around the socket and also pry off the stock backplate (which was stuck to the back of the Shuttle AN51 board I used in a build a month ago with some pretty strong double stick tape) to install the Zalman backplate. The CPNS7700s are great coolers, but they can be a bit of a PITA to install on some motherboards compared to the Freezer series in my opinion.

EDIT: Actually, looking at the pics on newegg more closely, it DOES look like you have to install a custom backplate with the Freezer 64, so that advantage is lost. It almost looks like they almost have a Socket A cooler attached to a special backplate to adapt it to teh A64 sockets. Couldn't tell that from the small thumbnail shots. So it looks like the Freezer 64 doesn't have the same ease of installation as the Freezer 7 version, which is a bit disappointing.
