Nice! Looks like my Havik 140 will be moving to Haswell too.

Cooler master hyper 212 was the best SB/IB cooler under $50, in fact it is sold on egg for $30 right now

The gentlemen above surely meant to say the hyper 212+ (plus). The hyper 212 ... non-plus ... is not that good.

I actually hope he meant the EVO and not the plus.

Yes I mean the Evo, it's only a few dollars more than the plus anyway. Absolutely fantastic cooler I've used coolers that were $90 and I barely noticed the difference if any.

For the value I think it is hard to beat the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. If you are looking even better cooling you can add an additional 120mm fan to it.

How do these coolers stack up against, say a used H50 for $35~?

For these kinds of HSF type questions you really should remember to "stay thirsty frosty my friends"...as in Frostytech.com

All the performance reviews are cataloged and compared on the basis of noise vs thermal performance. From the master list you can go price hunting at your favorite etailers and figure out what fits your budget and gives the best performance/dollar at that point.

Better than collecting anecdotal inputs which at best are an apples-to-oranges situation as no two are being used in the same case, same ambient, with same TIM, etc. Frostytech normalizes all those oranges for you, nothing but apples-to-apples comparisons for you to digest ;)

Thermalright TrueSpirit 140 is a beast too.

This. No contest.

You asked under $50, and everyone gave you the best cooler under $30. No way is the Hyper 212 +/Evo the best cooler under $50. It's just the most popular. And it's way, way under $50, hence its popularity.

I'd be buying a True Spirit 140 in a heartbeat if I needed a cooler today:

Here's a review to give you some background: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/11/17/thermalright_true_spirit_cpu_air_cooler_review/4

And yes, it will destroy an H50 and do it in silent fashion.

That looks really nice notty22!

I agree, it does look good, but it's also loud. The Hyper 212 EVO is cheaper, performs only slightly worse, but is 5 decibels quieter (that's a lot). So, if max overclock is more important, go with the TPC-812, but if a good balance between overclock and noise is important, get the 212 EVO.

Price difference after MIR is $7, you don't think it's worth $7 more than the Evo?

I wonder what the delta would look like at say 200w, or if getting that kind of draw out of an OC'ed Haswell will be possible /:(\
