I'm looking for "safety" colleges for a CS major. I'm applying to MIT and Carnegie Mellon SCS as reaches but need to find some safeties. I have pretty good stats (1520 SAT, Hard Course load, etc..). RIT seems attractive, any other universities I should be looking at in the Northeast? Thanks.

Why do you wanna go to the Northeast? ;) Come out west where it's nice and sunny.

I would put down University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign. They have an excellent computer science program. Michigan could also be another choice. I know its not Northeast... but I don't know many schools in that area.

Good luck with Carnegie Mellon. They accept like 100 people. It's a great program though. I got into it but I decided that I wasn't going to study CS, so I'm off to Columbia University instead.

Write a good essay, and hope that your teachers will write great recs for ya. Good luck!

Let me guess ur doing achieva, hense the "reach" term? Good look w/ MIT and Carnegie Mellon, I got wait listed and didn't get into their SCS. MIT rejected me outright, interview is tough.
