Good Computer, Corrupt XP load - Bad Computer, Good XP Load

RU482

Lifer
I have two computers, one that the motherboard has crapped out, the other has a corrupt hard drive and won't load into windows. I do not have the OS discs or backup utility disks for either.

Would it be possible to put the hard drive from the bad mobo computer into the PC with the bad hard drive?

They have different chipsets, one had a Celeron D, the other has a pentium M.

A third option in the equation would be to load an old hacked version of XP on the good drive, and then register it with the good software key.

Any ideas to get this machine up and running?

Humm, this is a tough situation, your best bet is to use the good hardrive on the good mobo, if that does not work, try a clean install with the hacked XP disk, if that does not work, find a friend with the same version of XP as you and use their disk to do a clean install.

You probably already know, but it is far from ideal to use a windows install with a different MoBo. (plus you will have to go through the activation crap...) yeah, your best bet is to get a XP disk that matches your key *cough*torrentifyouhavetobutbewareofvirusesandstaylegalifyoudo*cough*.
