Finally getting a new coffee machine. I love my coffee and wanna get a decent brewer--any suggestions? Nothing extremely expensive please. I already have a French press and espresso machine and maybe one other type of brewer, so I'm looking only for a drip machine.

If I could buy from amazon thatd be awesome since I have like $40 in gift cards there.

Thanks!

From what I understand there's two problems with Keurig: it doesn't brew hot enough and the k-cups aren't fresh.

Brewing temp may vary between various models. I'm not sure which one was measured as not being hot enough. Freshness of the k-cup can be remedied by getting the ones you fill yourself...but really doesn't that defeat the purpose of a Keurig in the first place?

I'd guess that Keurig probably drains/drips too fast to get full benefit from the grinds as well.

I like my Hamilton Beach percolator. Look in thrift shops. I don't think they make them anymore :^D

$20 Mr.coffee mate will do the job just fine.

Get your self some good coffee beans and a grinder. Nothing better than freshly grinded coffee.

I like Eight Oclock 50%deface (in blue packaging)

Keurik machine is crap. We have one of those at work and no one uses it as the insides gets dirty and tastes stale. On top of it it's already pregrinded and expensive.

As has been said...get a thermal carafe, whole beans and grinder...be sure to preheat the carafe with hot water...I hate Keurig as the coffee is weak and not hot enough..but if you favor convenience then its a good option...

this one gets good marks from CR...otherwise, go with a mr coffee with a thermal carafe..

What is your budget? Do you have a good grinder? Fresh coffee? PM me if you still need input.

Highest rated at Consumer Reports: Mr. Coffee BVMC-SJX33GT $40

I have a Cuisinart that I'm very pleased with, but I got it because it's a 14 cup and it uses a ball design which is pretty idiot proof in the top to allow coffee to drip. I've had some coffee makers that require mechanisms to engage to allow the coffee to drip and had problems where they failed and the coffee went all over the counter top.
