Yes, and from Munich. Good actor.

also, the FBI agent that got killed is the russian telegraph operator from Deadwood.

Yeah, and the guy that drove the Bentley in the beginning was Sol from Deadwood.

They had several HBO series characters in that movie.

I haven't seen it, but it better be damn fvcking good if you are going to claim that.

The Wire is fscking awesome, my favorite season was with "the Greek" and teamster workers. I think that was 2 seasons ago.

Can you believe they killed Barksdale? WTF DID THEY DO THAT???

Yes, I remember watching that and being shocked. But that is one of teh great things about that show, you never know what will happen. No one is safe.

Never seen it, should I watch it? I liked gladiator a lot?

Don't expect any big fight scenes, but you should enjoy it if you're into that kind of stuff. Focuses more on the politics, infighting, strategies, relationships etc.

Actually one of the best fight scenes you will likely ever see on a tv show was from episode 11 (the spoils).

I was literally out of my seat watching the gladiator scene in HD. Theres a lot of background info that makes this scene powerful so you definately need to watch the whole season, especially if you liked gladiator.

(spoiler, this is probably the best scene from season 1, maybe hold off on watching it if you plan on getting the whole series.)

I thought Rome was an excellent series, I'm glad to see they've gone ahead with season 2.

If you're into big battles and special effects and such, Rome is not for you. If you're into more plotting / politics / military / conquest / backstabbing etc stuff, Rome is for you. they've done a great job to give it a 'real' flavor, it doesn't feel like some phony battle royale period series, it focuses much more on the intrigue and what's happening behind the scenes..... but with just enough raw fighting to make it real.

Yea that ep was one of my favs as well. Rome is an awesome series.

Not sure how far along in Roman history they'll go with the series ( think S2 will be the last) but for those of you that don't know, Octavian becomes the new Caesar, he and Marc Antony align and go fight Brutus and Cassius and defeat them (aka they commit suicide). Antony goes to Egypt and gets it on with Cleopatra. Octavian expands Rome some more. Antonoy and Celopatra commit suicide. Octavian becomes the first Caesar Agustus (who the month of August is named for).

Some exciting stuff coming up. I'd imagine they might be able to get a lot of Octavian's rule in one season since it leads right up to almost 0 BC. Also, I really like the actor they got to play Octavian (Octavius). He did a great job IMO.

Unfortunately, Octavius is supposed to be a lot older in season 2, so I don't think Max Pirkis will be back. :(

Max is awesome also in Master and Commander. I hope he'll become a big-time star in the future.

We just returned from CostCo and they have $20 off HBO box sets which expires Sunday 8/27.

Soprano's, Six Feet Under and The Wire were flying off the shelves.

There was no emperor in the show. Rome was a republic throughout the series.

Unless you mean the kid, Octavian, but I don't think they ever mentioned his rise to emperor in the first season.

I watched them back when they were on HBO, so I could be wrong. I need to re-watch, though, great series.
