Good choice for home wireless router

Just need to replace my crappy Belkin pre N router that just crapped out. I like to have wifi so my wife can bump around with here laptop and just the 4 ports are fine for wired access. I do alot of gaming. I have noticed a few upper end models incorperating USB ports on the back... What is the primary expected use of these USB ports?

Thanks for the replies

USB ports would be to share a printer or an external hard drive would be my guess...

As for which to get, I'd just go with whatever's on sale. Unless you have specific requirements for features, most any router will handle basic internet sharing just fine these days.

USB ports on routers are generally used for network attached storage (some routers you can plug an external hard drive in to and create NAS) or print server.

how many wired connections do you need?

Oh I have about 12 Rj45 jacks in the house(not all used) but I have a 8-port netgear switch I had going off the router... I have seen that company JACKMDS but didnt know anything about them....the features are there and the price is good... But man so was that BELKIN pre N I had but it was a POS!

On the Internet it is more important to Judge who's recommendation to take, rather than just looking for Recommendations. 😉

Evaluation and decision making is a complex issue.

You forgot to mention that the Router in your link cost almost twice the price that if you do not have Draft-N card its Wireless his mediocre.

If you buy a Draft-N Card too, then it almost 4 times the price.

That said, Draft-N might the preferred solution under certain circumstances that need to be evaluated too.

Otherwise, in general that works too, and it cost less than some Fast Food Combo Meal in NYC.

$7.99 after rebate with Free Ship.
