This is true, if you ever watch their music video channel (for instance, in the wee hours of the morning as you wait for sleep to take you at a hotel), you will find that it is almost all bad stereotypical soft rock pop music.

Its ridiculous, its so absolutely horrible I don't think I've seen anything quite so funny in a while.

Jay Chou is not really rap, only a few tracks are "rap-like." The rest are more R&B / Pop like (cool beats and some dj skretching)

if you want Cantonese, do you want old school stuff or new stuff?

I completely lost track of the most current stuff (since there's always a new pop star every month to replace the older one). But the most "enduring" stars nowadays in HK are Joey Yung, Eason Chan and Twinz. I always like Nicholas Tse but he seems to fall off the charts. I also like Leo Ku, Andy Hui, Candy Lo.

old school stars are like Andy Lau, Jackie, Wong Kit (my favorite), and as mention Beyond.

for REAL old school you can look for Anita Mui, Sam Hui, and Tang Lei Kwan :)

HK pop isn't geared towards ABCers. It actually sells well in Asia, etc. Yeah, some of the video are corny as hell and costumes are cheesey as hell.

You might want check out Faye Wong. Her stuff is usually pretty good.

nothing says ABC more than Coco Lee. :) :) :)

anyways, I can't think of any group/singer that's geared towards ABC? I mean, they sing with an accent?

ohh... in the case, Edison Chan is your choice than. :) his songs kinda suck though.

I like Jay stuff.. :) I have a few of his music vids, they're pretty good.

Although I don't like the fact that most HK/Chinese songs are about like heartache and break up... where's a plain romantic song when you need it???

I like a few of them myself.

Jacky Cheung, Faye Wong, Andy Lau, Beyond, Aaron Kwok(not so good), Sammy Cheng. There are a few more, can't recall the names. Kelly Chen or something.

The usual Jay Chou, Andy Lau...I don't believe that no one's mentioned David Tao yet. And then speaking of Mr. Tao, a group that he produces, called "Tension".

I have a lot more music at home, but can't remember the full names right now...really depends on if you're looking for the usual pop stuff, or more downtempo stuff, or whatever.

Just look at the top 10 lists at yesasia.com :)
