I wanted to know this. since I got my 6800, my amd 2500+ has been bottlenecking it according to everyone else. so I think the next best step would be 64-bit 939. I heard that 754 is old, so there's not point in getting that.

I just need to know if a socket 939 processer and a motherboard can be $200 or less. I just got 6800 for christmas, so I can't blow out alot of money.

I just purchased a 64bit 3000 for 189$ + tx (CDN) and a msi k8n neo platnum (most expesnive) for 189$ + tx (CDN) around christmas. You can probably get down to about 140$ +tx (CDN) for a motherboard, but defenetly not the same quality and overclocking capablities. And CPU wise you pretty much have to go for the 3000 for the cheapest socket 939. However mixed with a good motherboard liek mine and some good ram you can oc it nicely. Some people have gotten it oc'd to 2.6g from 1.8g. I got it up to 2.2g which is liek a 3400, and i am going to push it further as I have been able to get it up alot higher just not as stable. Just need some more time for the configurations.

Not quite $200, I'm afraid, but $250 would be doable on 939 with a 3000 Winchester and a $100 Epox NF3 board. For just $200 you'd have to look at 754.
