So I got the free Kindle Reader for PC download and have been buying a few cheap ebooks for fun. I like War books, Zombie, Action/Suspense, Apocolyptic, etc. Anything good really.

So far I read (most are all $3.99 or less)

One Second After - EMP goes off, town/city goes nuts
Plague Year - Nanobots kill everything below 10k feet
World War Z - Zombie "documentary"
77 Days in September - EMP goes off, man travels home
Wool (Omnibus) - People live in Silos after nuclear war
The Gathering Dead - Zombie/Military Thriller
Left with the Dead - short novella from The Gathering Dead

Free from Websites
Going Home - http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=202922 (Awesome free story about EMP where a man has to travel home....very action packed and detail oriented)
Adrian's Undead Diary - http://adriansundeaddiary.com/ (Awesome free story about zombies with some twists)

What else have you read for free or cheap??

Great free: Treasure Island

3.99: either of the Adventures in Manifesting series. Disclosure: My cousin's son is co-publisher, did some of the writing. I paid for both, though. Mind blowing stuff, and I'm reading one of them right now. Only 5 star reviews at Amazon.

a list of stuff i've read for free

a memory of wind is ok, though it's rather short, and may or may not appeal to you

i liked his majesty's dragon but apparently it's not cheap anymore 🙁

there are quite a few good free/classic books by sax rohmer and h.g. wells

Thanks for the info so far guys!

I grabbed one called "Daniel" - About a GI that wondered onto a firebase in Vietnam and then odd things start happening. It's a little slow but it's starting to get really good and I can't wait to find out what happens.

What I was going to post. Piles of great and free SF & fantasy there.

The Baen paid ebooks are cheap too -- $5-6 even for titles currently out in hardcover. They also have bundles from some authors with prices below $5/book.

Baen ebooks are DRM-free and come in several formats including mobi that copies right from your PC to Kindle via USB cable.

Amazon has about 38,000 free ebooks here. Can't speak to the quality of them all, but for the price you can always delete and go on to another.

There's even a free book about how to find free books at Amazon.

Came here to post Wool even though I haven't read it yet, holding out till next month when I can get it free through their prime library. See you already read it though.

Just read 1632 by Eric Flint from the Bean Library. Its more of an alternate history/what if book were a small town in Wv is sent back in time to Germany 1632. It was just ok. They have I believe four of the books from the series available for free.

Bought one on sale the other week for 0.99 "Into the Black: Odyssey One". Not sure what it's normal price is but it's worth a read if you like scifi.
