good, cheap, HSF

My brother is sick of his Dragon Orb 3...not because it doesnt cool, but because its as load as a blow drier.

Does anyone have any recommendations for HSF's that i can quickly pickup at Microcenter or Compusa or something?

edit: i have a few $10 off $50 coupons to Compusa...so id prefer to get it from compusa...

no heatsink i know of is gunna cost $50....anything by thermaltake, thermalright, zalman is good though just make sure you get a decent 80mm at least fan to go with them. The temp senroing fans are nice and quiet while the things like delta which ut out like 40cfm will do better for cooling

the Dragon Orb 3 is Thermaltake...problem is that its too damn loud...

bit loud maybe? i'd at least consider picking up a extra medium rpm fan, every thermaltake fan i've had has made a right racket.


If its quiet your after, look at one of the thermalright SK/SLK jobs, the later models can get quite pricey though - but something like a slk900 is going to let you use the slowest, quietest fan of them all.

i had a d-orb which broke a fan blade, crappy cooler anyway. replaced mine for a taisol cgk760 which, like the dans data review, i have no probs reccomending as a very good all round cooler for low cost.
