Looking for a good router for my house. I was told ddwrt can monitor web traffic and that is important to me. Anyone have any suggestions? Does not need to be wireless, I have APs.

TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND for $46 shipped (or $45 shipped) is a good choice. I doubt you'll find anything cheaper.

I've got the TP-Link Archer C9 running DD-WRT myself, and highly recommend it, but it is pricier (and well worth it IMO). Could probably ditch the APs with this one.

What speeds are you actually expecting? If you have a gigabit internet connection or something and actually want gigabit speeds don't waste your time/money with consumer junk.

Many people pay around $150 for a good DD-WRT capable Wireless Router.

OP, why you think that there are Wireless Router selling for $100-$250 if a $46 Wireless Router can do everything that you might want to do with a Router???

DD-WRT can monitor traffic to an extent.. but maybe not what you're expecting. If you want traffic monitoring worth anything, you're going to need to have Snort or something similar installed. You'll find with consumer routers, they really aren't powerful enough if you have a lot of traffic. I'd recommend using an old PC with pfSense installed on it, or purchasing some mini-ITX hardware to build your own router. You'll probably be much happier with it.

Its good to pair it up with vpn. This network could protect you and make you safe from malwares and viruses.
