Well, I'm tired of the noise my antec 120mm fan in making in my p160, and thought I might want to turn it down with a fan controller. In addition, I would also like to add another 120mm fan so i have something to push out the hot air.

So whats a good fan controller and fan that can do the job, and how can I control the antec fan that only has a molex connection?

Thanks,
Cheezeit

for the fan, get a Molex to 3 pin convertor

as for fan controller, try Enermax? (not really sure since I've not used one myself)

Sunbeam Rheobus is a popular pick from what I've seen

thanks for the suggestion :)

I think I will probably go with the Rheobus because of it's attractive price, or maybe the aerogate 3.

Do I need to buy a quiet (yate loon, nexus) fan if I use a fan controller? Wouldn't it just be redundant? So which fan should I get?

I've got the Sunbeam Rheobus. It has connectors for 3-pin, but also came with two 4-pin to 3-pin connectors. I've got some 120cfm Mechatronics fans hooked up to mine. Just guessing, but I think my fans probably run between 5v and 12v. The fans are definately quiet when I get to 7v and lower. I'll try to see if I can get a voltage reading with my DMM later.

Buy a Panaflo fan. Make sure to buy 1 with "low" speed. They work great for undervolting, and still move air!

Cheezeit: The Cooler Master you listed has a native 3 pin but also has a Molex convertor. (I have two of those and they are the ownage). They are very nice fans and you'll be happy with the quietness and airflow of it.

The CoolerMaster would be fine with no undervoltin or control.

I gave/shipped that model Chinaflo(86cfm) to Fullmetal Chocobo. He won't use it either.
It protests when undervolted and is a lumpy running fan. That's why they are so cheap.

The Chinaflo that SVC has in 114cfm flavor is even worse, when undervolted.
If anyone here wants the 114cfm Chinaflo, it's $6 shipped. That's how bad it is.

wow, I thought the panaflos were good too... guess only in the case when they are run at default...

So instead of getting a fan controller and a coolermaster, you guys think I should just get 2 coolermasters? How about the yate loon at jabtech for 7 bucks?

I'm trying to get everything in one place to save shipping, as shipping is like 6 bucks each both from svc and jab tech.

Or the shipping can be 1000 USD not including gasoline fees for traveling to Shanghai to get my Cooler Master 80 mm, RAM heatspreaders and chipset cooler and the 12 cent bus fee to get my 120 mm fans (I bought my Cooler Masters from China. Not even kidding.). But yes, you do save shipping when you buy it from a yahoo store (directron, svc, etc).

Just get two Cooler Masters and plug them into the 12V lines (or the non-PWM 3 pins on the motherboard). Using the PWM on the motherboard will get the Cooler Masters very whiny and pissy (bad motor noise). I'm going to hook up my current 120 mm exhaust to a non-PWM tomorrow since it whines when on the PWM.

If the price is the same, go with Jab-Tech as they are in OK and charge no State tax as SVC will. That's 8% right there ;)

If you want to get a controller, buy the Sunbeam Rheobus at JT for < $10.
NO PWM whine or rumble with the above controller.
