good cheap domain registrar with good support. Namecheap?

Hi I'd like to register a domain. Problem is the last time I did this with my real info, I got spam email like nobodies business and even real snail mail, and I noticed automated calls to renew my car protection, carpet cleaning etc. Could be a coincidence but I don't think so. Can I enter whatever info to avoid the phone calls and other spam.

Legally and ICANN-rules wise, no, you have to give them true and correct information. Nobody actually checks.

Many registrars offer an extra-fee "private registration" service you could use if you don't want the information listed publicly.
