good, cheap amd board

recently, i have had 2 gigabyte boards give me problems, the 880ga-ud3h will not boot, believe its got bad memory banks, sending it back for repair this weekend

also, have a ga-ma790gp-ds4h that i have to pull the power cord, reinstall the power cord, to get it to boot video..it has no warrantly

i am going to replace the 790 chipset board, i want to try another brand, anyone suggest a cheap, non-problem board...i don,t want dirt cheap, something similiar to the 2 i have posted on, but probably a 880 chipset board

I would try Asus, they have a lot of good AMD boards.

i'm also interested in this question, as most of the socket AM3 mobos I've read reviews on have mixed reviews, unlike the 1155 ones who seem to have consistent feedback.

gigabyte seems to be a lot better at making Intel boards

I use ASUS for all my AMD needs. Foxconn is decent if you know what you are doing

I like the biostar a880g+. I am running one in my htpc with a x2 regor and it runs great! 60 bucks at amazon.

I have been using gigabyte for the longest time...I bought a premium ASUS board and it didn't play nice with SCSI about 10 years ago.

IMHO most that have issues with any of the top manufacturers are not buying new/from authorized resellers and/or putting them in applications outside their intended purpose.

I just installed a 990FXA-UD3 for my dad...he more or less picked it out. He didn't realize there was no eide/floppy any more. I educated him that it's better to go and buy a $30 SATA DVD writer than live in the past tech and a usb floppy that you can use when needed is an easy thing.

also like the ta880gu3+,,,,,it has the 850 southbridge, which is something i was looking for-

also the a880g+ not a very good idea to unlock CPUs to 4 cores or so
Since the unlocks would be consuming 125W+ and the A880G is a cheap 3+1 power phase
Good for some lower TDP processors but I wuoldn't use it on an unlocked or 125W at all...and i have 2 phenom II,S X2 that i have unlocked the cores on
