Good case for HTPC

I'm building a HTPC and currently in a hunt for a great case. I'm eyeing for Ahanix D6.

are there other cases that's comparable to D6?(cheaper with same feature sets would be better)

tia!

Enlight's #7200 is the least expensive new box in the horizontal layout. I found one for $53-something, shipped, using Pricegrabber, but didn't even have that much stretch in my own HTPC budget. I think that the only color offered is beige, or "Putty" Color. But I didn't consider color a big problem. That's an easy thing to fix. Not having enough money, now that was a different problem.

I "overbuilt" a recent upgrade using eBay purchases, and the AMD 2600+ was kinda being "wasted" at 266 MHz fsb speed, when it could have been running 333. So I am trying for a very low-ball path to the HTPC, using some pre-owned parts and that particular cpu. For instance, I bought a Gateway P-I/166 (that I tested and it actually did run), just to get the box, at half of the cost of that Enlight item. It's a tight fit, and it's that same beige/putty color that is so ubiquitous since IBM popularized it.

I did order a new Hdd, since an 80 was as large as I had on hand. DVR supposedly really eats up storage space. And I need to find a 60 mm fan that moves a high volume of air, or get a pair. The Gateway case is too shallow for an 80 mm anywhere but the front as an intake. It does seem to have a fan mount in the left front (facing), that would equate to a towers's lower front. The only exhaust is via the PSU, or a triple row of 1/8" ventilation holes across the area where I will have to put fans (I hope I can fit 60's there).

😉

I'm using the Antec Sonata. It's pretty much noiseless, has the door to hide unsitely drives, and the finish goes well with most other home theater equipment.

Here's a couple to consider......

Both of these cases accept full ATX motherboards and power supplies.

This one is made by Compucase. Cooling is optional 80mm front and PS exhaust.
Directron 7106

And another......
CasEdge DT-001
I can't find any inside pics of this one. It has a 300W power supply but no info on that either.

I am using an Aopen H400A. It fits fine in my audio cabinet. Looks like it is discontinued, but it is similar in design to these except it only accepts Matx boards.

You don't have to spend $200 to get a descent HTPC case.

I'm also looking for a good HTPC case. I've got my eye on the Silverstone LC03V (pics) because it's large enough for a full ATX case and has enough bays for the HTPC.

The Ahanix cases look great too but the divine6 is mATX and the divine4 doesn't have enough bays

I did more searching and it looks like Ahanix just released a new divine case (divine 3). link. This is what I'm leaning towards now

WTF, those are cheap steel, plastic cases how are they comparable to the Ahanix?

Personally I like the Silverstone LC03V mentioned above.

Dude! Who pissed in your Post Toasties! 😛

xbassman don't take offense. I'm not implying you are made of cheep steel/plastic (or are you??😛) just that those cases are.
