Hey folks!

My Dad was recently hit and his car was totalled. Happily he's okay but now he needs a new car. Currently expecting to get about $3000 back in insurance and wondering what suggestions you may have for a good car in that price range.

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Those are selling at a premium now thanks to the high gas prices.

I'll bet that you could still get a 4 Cyl Ford Tempo or Dodge Neon for damn cheap, though!

Newest nissan sentra you can find. Toyotas and Hondas have unreasonably high resale, so you're looking at something too old. Repairs on a sentra will be cheap, too.

Crown Vic/ Police Interceptor/ Grand Marquis/ Lincoln Town Car. Same car, same V8, different name and in the Interceptor's case more durable parts.

This is as rich as whats the best car for $30k but now we aren't sure if trucks, cars or motorcycles are also in the running.

OP, how 'bout some details.

Easiest way would be do a autotrader search by price range and type of vehicle you are looking at. That will show you what's out there more than anything.
