Good car carpet cleaner?

I had a garbage bag leak a few drops of some foul smelling shiot in the back of my car. It's a hatchback and it got on the carpet. What's the best stuff to use here to clean it out?

A knife.

... maybe color safe bleach, or lye? Resolve has always served my household well for pet stains, so it may work there too. Somebody told me that ammonia works well for set-in stains, but I know know if it's safe for plastic carpeting. Ditto that for the bleach and lye.
