anyone know where i can do research on good canadian computer science grad school programs?

i got the whole usnews thing down for the states, but it'd be nice to have something similar for canada!

canadanews.com doesn't help 😉

Go to your local library and check up past issues of Macleans Magazine (for University reviews) and Canadian Business Magazine for Grad school reviews.

Cheers,

oh no no, don't mistake me- US is my top choice. got a list of 8 uni's lined up to apply to in the u.s.

but i'm not american, don't have a green card, and getting a visa (i'm pakistani) absolutely SUCKS for me, and there's a high chance i may get denied that, even though i lived in the us for like 6 years, did my undergrad there and all. fact is right NOW i'm in pakistan and thats going to work against me when applying to the states.

need backups 🙂 but hopefully i won't need them <fingers crossed>

On the west coast, University of British Columbia is pretty much the best comp sci one.

Towards the east, you can choose from University of Toronto or Waterloo.

The rest of the batch i've always felt were centered more on things like business/law/arts stuff, so those 3 would be my top choices for computer science.

edit: if you want to be sure, also check out:

sfu - simon fraser university
queens university
uwo - university of western ontario
mcgill university
uvic - university of victoria

u of waterloo

u of bc is probably good, because i know quite a few of the grad students from here (u of washington, us) are getting professorships there.

UBCer here. It's a great school. They're building tons of new stuff all over campus. I'm probably gonna do my grad school in Europe though.

I'm doing Comp Engineering right now at Waterloo, they put a lot of funding into Engineering / Mathematics faculties and have solid CS/Math/Engineering grad programs.

Don't forget SFU. I've heard better things about their CS program than UBC.

Then again, I'm a BCIT CS student. I don't think they have grad programs... yet. But soon.
