I have decided to leave D²OL

Why. I had a stuck something and for the longest time seemed like days I stayed at 4998 unit finished.
Why. Units are taking over 2 3 hours to do.
Why. I am not a stats person but really tired of being down EVERY weekend.

You aren't giving up DC entirely, are you? I sure hope not! It would be a shame to waste CPU cycles, for...
Every MHz is sacred,
Every MHz is great;
If a MHz is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
;)

So, if you are still going to stick around and feel like crunching something, consider these projects that seem to work pretty well:
  • SETI - If you want to search for ET, or if you are just interested in astronomy in general, this one is for you!
  • SoB, RC5-72, ECC2-109 - These projects attempt to solve various mathematical challenges; the first two seem to have stable and decent clients, but I've not had any experience with the third.
  • Folding@Home - Sorry, just had to put in a plug for my preferred medical project. The client may not be the most visually attractive, but it is stable and doesn't seem to have too many problems with getting and sending WUs.

2.5 to 4 hours

When I look at Dspy and it says I have done 4 or 5 in a 24 hour period I begin to wonder.

The candidates on the project are just varying more widely in how long they take. My 2100 stomps through some at 5 sec/conformer, and others at 5 mins/conformer. So, if you happen to get a few big ones in a row on a slow machine, you may get just 5-10 done in a day.

Same with SETI, btw... some WUs are faster than others...

Yep I realize that. Main reason I am leaving is the fact my machine would sit for hours (not home much) doing nothing.
And my 60 or so lost units will be made up by new members that are joining.

only 60 lost units?
jeez. b/w my home and work computers ive lost close to 500 (possibly more!) according to Dspy and its logs.
i was oedacip on D2OL
so i left D2OL this week too.
im tired of the stats, they are never right.
im tired of stuck cands.
i will monitor what happens with this project, but the stats are so squirrely, i think if you could find a cure
the ppl @ Sengent wouldnt even know.
to me D2OL was becoming a complete waste of time.
ive switched to SoB for lack of anything else to do, got burnt out on SAH. maybe SAH-II will spark a renewed interest.

You fine people have served your team well, and helped us earn our way to #1 in the world, a feat which seemed impossible 90 days ago. I commend all of you and wish you well no matter where you serve. :) You have MUCH to be proud of.. :D

What MT said...all of us that crunched the TeAm to #1 were a damn fine cow ass kickin group...and as long as we are all still actively crunching...the TeAm will continue to thrive in all projects
