Good brake rotor pad combo

I'm looking for some decent front pads and rotors for my 04 Acura RSX type S. The mechanic was having trouble finding the parts locally so I've decided I'm going to look what what I could do to "upgrade" them. I'm not looking to spend too much money, but if I can do a lot better for not too much more then I might consider it.

What brand or type should I look at? Any place that has the absolute best deals?
 
To be honest, the OEM pads are usually a darn good combination of stopping power, noise, and dust. Aftermarket pads can often have better stopping power, but tend to be noisier or dustier or both.

ceramics are pretty dustless and work good for the street.

I like my Hawk HPS+ pads on brembo rear rotors and Nissan OEM skyline rotors up front.

When my Nissan rotors fail I will probably end up with DBA's as Brembo doesn't make my size (296x30mm)
 
Satisfied is by far the biggest brand in OEM style pads (if you don't count the manufacturer's own brand pads), after that, it's Bendix. Ceramic Satisfied or Bendix should make you happy.

Brembo blanks are very good rotors for street use. They combine Brembo quality and durability with OEM fit, predictability and docile behavior.
 
What I did for our CTS was put drilled rotors and some ceramic pads on it. Ceramic does not do well at higher temps so that is what the rotors are for. That way i get no noise, low dust, and good performance.

The rotors were the cheapest drilled ones from eBay and the pads were on sale at autozone i think.


But don;t use bendix pads. They are the fram of brake pads.

You'll never reach high enough temps and speeds to make drilled rotors effective. Also, due to the lost mass, they heat up quicker. Add in the fact you're not driving fast enough to get enough airflow to make a difference in cooling between vented and drilled rotors.

Ceramic pads are made so they can stand higher temperatures. It's almost comparable to Semi Metallic and under normal driving, your brakes don't heat much above 200-250 degrees in most cars. Your first point of failure will not be the pads but the brake fluid between 284-446F depending on whether the brake fluid is new(dry) or old (wet) and whether its DOT 3 or 4. Your pads overheating will never cause a problem since you'll lose hydraulic pressure before your pads lose friction.

It's like they Veyron, the tires can only stand 20 minutes at 254mph, but you'll run out of fuel in 12 so there is no point in upgrading.

Do you have a reference for Bendix? I've never heard bad things about Bendix, just good.
