good boards for video work?

Is there any consensus out there on the best board/CPU combination for video work? (capture, edit, author VCD/DVD)

Is it worth dishing out for a dual board or is it better to use the money on the fastest CPU and mem? Are the new 64 bit CPUs that much better? etc etc

if this has all been hashed out before, just point me to the right place please...

Intel P4 with the latest SiS or Intel chipset mobos are usually considered the hot single-CPU rigs for video editing. Though the AMD 64-bit chips should do well too. Various video centric sites around the web will likely have the latest info.

Single CPU I would go Northwood P4, Something along the lines of 2.8Ghz or higher

Dual CPU's I would go dual opteron. Lots of options for your budget and design.
