Anyone know of any notebooks for <$1250 with insane battery life? I just need a pretty basic setup for my mom (all she does is type, check email, watch movies, surf the web, etc). But I'd like it to be something that she can carry around the house for more than a a couple of hours. Thx.

Edit: Screen size preferably 14-15"

There's quite a few, actually. I seem to recall that a firm selling laptops through Target has one with a 2ghz Via C7 (equivalent to a 2ghz Banias) for $500; battery life was over 5 hours.

Some of the Panasonic Toughbooks (the W4's, I think) had a battery life of 6 hours or more, but they cost a mint.

My refurbished X40 gets 3 hours with the stock battery, and six or more with the double-size battery.

The MacBook also has good battery life.

macbook, thinkpad t60 (at least the 6-cell can go around 3.5 hours so i'm guessing the 9-cell can go signficantly more), and maybe an HP dv2000t with a 12-cell battery

Dell Latitude D620 w/ biggest battery. 14" wide screen. Really long battery life, good screen, light, and one of the best build qualities I've seen from Dell.
