Good bar to go to alone in NYC?

Here for work and will have Friday night to myself. Any good bars to checkout by myself in the city? I will be staying in the Hilton Times Square.

I was alone in NYC on a business trip a while back and had a great time at a bar on West 3rd Street called Fat Black Pussycat. There was a lounge in the back, but I just took a seat at the bar and met a ton of interesting people that night. I'd definitely go back again.

Whiskey Trader 55th and 6th. Solid bar for Midtown and a couple of blocks away from where you are. Otherwise there's also a bunch of Upscale rooftop bars OR downscale irish pubs. Wtf are you looking for?

Been there once, good place to meet some friendly people. I remember the place has a left and right side entrance, the left door requires entry fee...less crowded.

Don't think I've ever been there without getting laid at the end of the night by some drunk hottie. But that was years ago, and it's 90% NYU students like the rest of the neighborhood. Would be a bit awkward going there alone if you're older than mid 20's.

If you dont know NYC, I would be very careful going out drinking (even just a couple, could be knobbled) alone!

I'm certainly older than mid 20's, and although I didn't get laid (I had a girlfriend at home) I did talk to quite a few women when I was there on my business trip a couple months back.

This isn't NYC in 1980s-90s. Giuliani cleaned the fuck out of this city. I have never felt I was in danger at any time, even in Harlem after sunset.

You're golden ANYWHERE you go in Manhattan, including Harlem. If you're totally drunk and wandering alone asking for trouble, that's no different than any other city.

All touristy bars are overpriced and well populated
All non-touristy trendy bars are just fucking trendy and pretty damn well kept
All dive bars / local bars are quite friendly

Seeing as the subway & taxi run 24/7 at every inch grid of this city, NYC is probably the safest place to be drunk in US.

HAhah hell YEA! I was just about to mention this. The bar is divey, but it's in a trendy jap town.

I reckon you do want to go to a nicer bar though, if you're want to talk to some girls.

Canal Room is pretty awesome on a Saturday night, if you like 80's cover band. TONS of hot white girls. There are a couple places around the corner too if you get bored of that place. I think the cover was $10 or $15 but worth it. The cover band that does 80's songs is pretty awesome and everyone who goes has a great time.
