good app for creating dvd's?

i received a digital video camera recently as a gift. What is the best app for editing and then burning a DVD from the footage I shoot? TIA.

i spoke with a friend......he says adobe premiere and avid are best.......anyone else have any thoughts?

Those are pretty high-end (and expensive) options. I have found that Pinnacle Studio works quite well for basic consumer-grade home video editing and dvd production. I even produced our company's Christmas video with it last year, and was told it was better than the videos they were paying outside studios a couple grand to make!

I am not sure you can even get avid without buying an avid machine... which are in the thousands of dollars range. Premiere is about 600... i am not even sure it makes dvds as much as edits video.

DVD-Lab is the best current DVD authoring tool I know on the market, and it doesn't have a steep learning curve like others. If you scour the internet, you might find the last version of DVD Maestro, before it was yanked off the market entirely by Spruce Technologies...

Heh...better than DVD Studio Pro or Adobe Encore?

Anyways, if you want something simple, theres always something like Sonic MyDVD. My aunt seems to like it.

Have you seen the latest DVD-lab Pro? It has room for scores of languages and subtitles, you can do anamorphic DVD-9 discs with it, and so on... It looks good, and it's easy to learn. Yes, it's better than the bloated Adobe, IMHO, at least it's cheaper

Ahh, I just took a look at it. DVDLab Pro wants to be DVD Studio Pro!!!!

Does look decent tho for working on the PC, and at $200 its very reasonable, though they should include an encoder.
