i liked how it scans for the current values then shows you the recommended settings. After a reboot, I tested my speed and it was slightly higher than before. Webpages load even faster on my Pale Moon! must have

Auslogics Internet Optimizer is an unusually comprehensive internet connection tweaking tool.
If you're baffled by networking jargon then there's no need to delve too deeply, though. Just launch the program, choose your internet connection speed, click Analyze and Internet Optimizer will recommend improvements to your system settings. After applying these with another click, reboot, then try a few internet apps and see if you spot any performance gains.

Note: Remember to uncheck any toolbar when installing, don't blindly click on NEXT, NEXT

While I like Auslogic apps....esp their free registry defragger, I only recently learned here, an internet optimizer I ran and loved for long time (I was addicted to seeing the dial go to the top when I ran it, even tho it was all bogus).....was total snake oil. Only took a 50 brilliant members here to finally get me to get that.🙁

But, cause I am addicted to new apps, I am right now getting this and trying it.:sneaky:

Update: Heads up: Be sure U uncheck the tool bars before installing!

Given wut I have been thru.....I think I maybe should not let this thing to what it thinks needs doing; right now, i am getting higher than I am paying for re download via RCN. I am paying for 25 and am mostly getting over 30.

K....well, I am an addict, so you know I am now going to let this new thingy do what it is positive needs doing. Then, I will clean up the mess. Cause that is my pattern.

Well I could be crazy.....but I think it works. Can't wait for others here to test it. As usual, I did not run RCN speed test before, only after.

Update:

OK, wut I did was undo the changes Auslogics made, cause at least it has restore/roll back option, U just gotta reboot. Then I ran RCN Speed Test, got 32.52 Mbps upload.

Then, I ran the Aus thingy again, let it makes the changes, rebooted.

Then, I ran another RCN test, got 32.41 upload.

So, while minute difference prolly owes to traffic, etc., I am no longer impressed with it, and think I will uninstall it. But I trust Auslogic in general, and it din mess things up really, cause U can undo the changes which I now will again.

The only internet optimizer I've seen is dedicated file downloaders (like DownThemAll! for Firefox) that create concurrent downloads of the same file to, in some cases, improve download speeds by 400% or more.

Of course they have their downsides, but downTheAll! in particular has saved me more than a few hours over the years.

I feel U! But U know me, I have an O! This new app will B Santa! compulsion and that means I must get them and try them.🙄

Yr fab download files at warpspeed app does not change underlying setting, packets etc.....it does sound fab.

yeah, when 56k was all the rage.....I remember using something called Gorilla download......or something that made downloads fast and quick!!
 
Any download booster will work without issue when a server is throttling single-connections to bellow your maximum network speed. That's why torrent downloads are usually faster than server downloads. Many connections at once beats a single connection.

that is not an Internet Optimizer, that is a download accelerator. 2 diff. things

Interner Optimizer will tweak your Window settings for a faster interne although from Windows 7 onwards, there is little room for improvement, but there is still a slight room for optimization.

An Internet download accelerator tricks the server which throttles the download limit into thinking multiple connections/computers are downloading, and thus your download seems much much faster. 2 diff. concepts.

Now when you combine both, the internet optimizer with the download manager/accelerator, you get the max speed as per your bandwidth offcourse
 
Also, when it comes to a download manager, nothing even comes close to Internet Download Manager, though it's paid. its the best, has the best interface, and even allows you to download videos off YouTube, etc. sites
 
My connection is so slow without the download managers, accelerators, it goes at a quarter that speed and often ends incomplete.

I have used IDM before, it's great. I would say Jdownloader is as good as it but having it so dependent on java updates makes it a pain.

The only thing I love and miss about jdownloader is that for a lot of popular hosts which use the captcha codes, jdownloader does this for you.

It's a big time saver but I don't download that much these days.

I don't mess with torrents because a buddy of mine was seeding and got indicted.

As far as optimizing the OS, I remember there were those programs and registry hacks to increase tcp window and all that, but I think that is more effective on xp than a modern OS.

I am using windows 8 through a router connected to 3g modem.

One thing I learned about speed, at least with this setup, the only thing that makes it go faster is

1.) the middle of the night when no one is on the tower
2.) faster hardware
