Good AM3+ motherboards?

My old AM2+ 770 board is starting to die on me and I need to replace it.
I don't think I'm ready to jump to Intel since my 1090T is still doing everything I need it to.

What are some good overclocking AM3+ boards?

asus has some good ones. even the 970 oc'd well vs the sabertooth/ch5. cant find link but i believe it got a x4 980 at 4.2 ghz

The Asus Sabertooth 990FX seems to be the best overclocker for reasonable price. I've been eyeing it for my next build.

NB! The Sabertooth comes with BIOS version that does not support FX (the dumbest idea ever - releasing a AM3+ board that doesn't support the only AM3+ CPU's with the BIOS it comes with) - you have to get an AM3 CPU to update the BIOS and ony then you can use the FX's.

lol u gotta be kidding me? massive fail on Asus's part! This is still an issue to this day??

OP i'd recommend getting a NB chipset with the features u need, i.e. 990x & 970 NB coupled with a 950 SB is more than enough for me as i dont need to spend the extra cash on dual or triple PCIE 16x lanes. I only use the one graphics card and as such the 970 NB is more than enough for me. Never really cared for Crossfire or SLI so im set.

Eh.. I really wish I was kidding, but no. Some guy over at the Tom's Hardware forum confirmed this with 2nd level Asus support. There is no way you'll get a Sabertooth to work with an FX out of the box. You need a donor CPU or RMA the board to Asus and they'll flash the BIOS.

Thanks for the support guys.

I decided I'm going to donate the 1090T to a friend of mine (currently running an X4 9600) and jump to Intel i7-2600k.

I don't heavily game, but at the same point I don't want to upgrade for a while and Intel seems like my best bet for that.
