Hi,

I'm trying to convince my boss to change all his computers to linux, BUT! He wants to have something like Outlook and Exchange Server... The only thing I've found was Evolution wich is only replacing Outlook... But how about Exchange Server???

Can anyone help me?

Good luck, Exchange is popular for a reason. You may be able to get similar results with GroupWise from Novell (although this would obviously need a NetWare server) or whatever Lotus calls their groupware server which may have a Linux server but I don't think it has a client.

Depending on the features you need you maybe able to setup something close with things like imap and ldap, but it's not an easy thing to do.

HP stopped selling OpenMail, which was reportedly a vary good email/collaboration server for Unix systems. But apparently, Samsung has acquired rights to sell it as Samsung Contact Server. Version 7.1 appears to be a freely available download, so you can try it without dumping a lot of money.

Doesn't Ximian sell something (can't remember the name) that lets a Linux client connect to an Exchange server? Of course that still leaves MS on the server, but that may be better than nothing.

You're talking about Connector. But still my server has to be on Windows... I would really like to have a Linux server... I think I'm gonna try what manly's talking about. Maybe that'll do the job!

Yeah well to convince my boss, it has to be easy to set up. He won't pay for something it'll take days to set up... ;)

Thanks for your help all!
